Madrid, 9 February 2023. Harmon, Spain’s first consultancy specialising in non-market strategies, has acquired Comco with the goal of becoming the leading financial communication consultancy in Spain and Portugal. With this integration, Harmon joins the “Champions League” of the sector in financial transaction advisory, based on several industry rankings.
Comco’s founding partners, Abigail Díaz-Agero and Susana Ruiz Janeiro, are joining Harmon as professional partners along with their current team. Díaz-Agero brings 30 years of experience as a consultant and entrepreneur, having been Managing Partner at Eurocofin and founder of Madrid Relocation Services before launching Comco. Ruiz Janeiro, with 25 years of experience, specialises in international projects, having worked at Brunswick in London and also served as Managing Partner at Eurocofin. Both have advised national and international clients on corporate communication strategies, IPOs, M&A operations, restructurings, and crisis situations. Co-founder Juan Carlos Bolland will remain linked to Harmon as an adviser.
With this move, Harmon strengthens its advisory capabilities by adding a new team of consultants. Following its recent alliance with Generator in Portugal, the firm continues to accelerate its growth, consolidating a team of 80 professionals as it enters its third year of operation.
“In today’s complex geopolitical and economic context, the financial services sector faces the challenge of rebuilding trust, understanding regulation, and recognising the sensitivity of the environment. We are confident that Comco’s experience and professionalism will significantly enhance our ability to help clients meet these goals. In a short time, we will consolidate our position as a reference player in the financial arena,” said Carmen Basagoiti, President of Harmon.
For Susana Ruiz and Abigail Díaz-Agero, new Financial Communication Partners at Harmon, “after 15 years as an independent firm, Harmon’s platform allows us to connect our expertise and specialisation with new intelligence and forecasting capabilities—essential to delivering value to clients in the years ahead. We’re thrilled to join an ambitious, forward-looking project that will act as a catalyst for transformation in the corporate affairs industry. With our team, which has been vital to Comco’s success, alongside Carmen Basagoiti’s leadership, our combined experience, and our clients, we’re positioned as one of the most relevant financial communication firms in the Iberian market.”
