Harmon, the First Professional Services Firm in Spain to Adopt a 100% Free Work Model

Beyond remote work: consultants choose when, how, and where they work to balance personal life and professional goals.

Harmon, Spain’s first consultancy specialising in non-market strategies, has also become the first professional services firm in the country to implement a completely free organisational work model. Based on flexibility, responsibility, and autonomy, this model allows the company’s nearly 60 employees to work whenever, however, and wherever they choose.

To make this model possible, Harmon is introducing a series of measures aimed at improving productivity and time management, promoting work–life balance, and building a professional project that attracts top talent.

“From the beginning, we envisioned Harmon as a collective project—a hive mind of free, diverse, talented, and healthily irreverent professionals. To make that vision a reality, we’ve committed to bold organisational measures that help us deliver a distinctive work experience and excellent service to our clients,” explains Jaime Olmos, CEO and founder of the firm.

Flexible Hours and Location

Working hours are entirely flexible: each person defines their schedule according to their own needs, those of their clients, and those of their teams. The company’s new offices—located on Calle Serrano in Madrid—are open 24 hours a day to be used as needed. To ensure effective team coordination, internal meetings and synchronous work are concentrated between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Harmon’s roadmap also allows employees to work from anywhere in the world, either temporarily or, in some cases, permanently.

“Each of us can decide when to work from home and when to come to the office, with no minimum or maximum level of in-person presence. In fact, I live and work in Gambia and travel to Madrid periodically when my projects require it,” says Alejandro Peral, Director of Trends at Harmon.

“This summer, I worked remotely from two different places—several days in northern Spain and several from my family home in Serbia,” adds Angelina Radovic, Financial Communications Consultant.

Recharging on Fridays

The consultancy has also introduced the Recharge Harmon Day—one Friday off per month to recharge. This initiative, coordinated within each team to ensure uninterrupted client service, allows employees to compensate for periods of high workload with paid time off beyond their usual holidays.

Once a year, there will also be a ShipIt Harmon Day, a free day dedicated to developing new projects, services, and solutions for the company, either individually or in small working groups.

This initiative complements the #HarmonCares commitment, which allows employees to dedicate 5% of their working time to pro bono and non-profit projects that contribute to generating positive social impact.
