Neither Remote nor On-Site: The Future of Work Is Flexible

Harmon hosts a BeFlex forum on best practices in new hybrid work models.

Madrid, 14 February 2025. Flexibility is neither the future of work nor a remnant of the past—it is the current mindset of the most innovative and sustainable companies. With flexible hybrid models, business productivity rises and employee engagement improves. At the same time, the greater the flexibility, the more valuable collective experience in the office becomes. These were among the reflections shared during the discussion forum organised on Wednesday by Harmon and zityhub, focused on the value of workplace flexibility.

The event, held at Harmon’s Madrid headquarters, forms part of the activities of BeFlex, a platform promoted by zityhub to create a Spanish ecosystem for research and knowledge-sharing on flexible work models. Its aim is to foster dialogue on best practices and strengthen connections of value among BeFlex member companies. According to the movement’s data, workplace flexibility is the most valued benefit among employees in Spain and is already a widespread reality across many organisations.

The roundtable, moderated by Paula Galán, Head of Culture and People at Harmon—one of the first professional services firms in Spain to adopt a fully flexible model—included contributions from Cristina Arbej (People & Culture Country Lead, Celonis), José Luis Risco (Partner, Talent Leader, EY Spain), Mikel Zahino (Director of People, SENER), and Zobeida Dubén (Head of Talent, Culture & Diversity, NTT Data).

Participants shared insights and recommendations on adapting and optimising work dynamics and leveraging flexible models to enhance innovation and engagement within organisations.

During the session, Borja Bergareche, Partner for Corporate Communication and Leadership at Harmon, noted that “one of the keys to the successful implementation of Harmon’s 100% flexible model—highly rated in internal surveys—has been building, from the outset, a collective professional project with a strong people-centred culture as its gravitational core.”

Meanwhile, Ángel Serrano, Co-founder and CEO of zityhub, underlined the importance of flexibility in today’s professional environment: “Flexibility enables organisations and their people to adopt a more humanistic model of work; it has evolved from being a privilege to becoming a workplace necessity.”
